Marsala Historic Centre
Marsala Historic Centre
Compact and easy to explore on foot, Marsala's old town blends Baroque architecture, sun-drenched squares and lively pedestrian streets. The heart of it all is Piazza della Repubblica, dominated by the grand Cathedral of San Tommaso di Canterbury and the elegant arcaded Palazzo VII Aprile. The two historic gates — Porta Garibaldi and Porta Nuova — recall one of Italy's most iconic moments: Garibaldi's legendary landing of 1860. Wine bars, bakeries and artisan shops complete the picture.

Via Vincenzo Florio, 1, Marsala Free municipal consortium of Trapani, Italy
FLORIO
Founded in 1833 by Vincenzo Florio and built right on the seafront in tuff stone, this is one of Sicily's most iconic wineries and the birthplace of world-famous Marsala wine. Inside, vast pointed-arch naves house over 3,000 oak barrels where the wine slowly ages, filling the air with an extraordinary blend of wood, sea salt and must.
Guided tours take visitors through the historic cellars and conclude with a tasting of Florio wines — a journey through taste, architecture and over 190 years of Sicilian winemaking tradition. With more than 50,000 visitors a year, it's one of western Sicily's most beloved destinations.
